SEEMP initiatives for your fleet?
Since Jan 1, 2013 under Marpol Annex VI ((resolution MEPC.203(62)) ships above 400GT are required to have a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan; if all is in place the vessel receives a IEEC or International Energy Efficiency Plan. So far so good but, in the SEEMP, you have to describe how you will effectively reduce the CO2 footprint of your vessel. You vessel management team will need to select, investigate and implement measures for reduction of the overall energy consumption.
The SEEMP is designed to stimulate the initiatives towards greener shipping, but the measures to be taken to reach the annual reductions in order to reach the IEEC goals might lead to time consuming investigation- and selection procedures for either replacement consumers with less power consumption, to even replacement of auxiliary power units.
Other actions you might think of:
-replacement of light sources for LED (mind your power factor compensation)
-advanced power management system to minimize idle running time
-motion sensors in accommodation spaces (especially in installations with large numbers of cabins)
Off course for every type of vessel the focus is different, that’s why we strive to optimization for certain vessels or a fleet segment.
Let us assist you in these processes, so you can focus on what you’re doing best!
