Ballast water convention ratified, entry into force in 2017.
Over the past months a lot has been said and written about ballast water treatment and the ratification status of the convention, and in previous newsletters you’ve been given regular updates on the status. Finally it has been set in to force by the signatory of the 8th of September 2016 by the Finnish government.
This tipped the scale over the 35% treshold of the global fleet tonnage; 35,14% to be more precise.
For shipowners and operators this basically means that they have to be compliant with the regulations on as of the 8th of September 2017. A brief version of these regulations can be found on our website.
